Court Hearing For Climate Activists
ANN ARBOR, MI – The University of Michigan doesn’t have to hand over any more information to defense attorneys than it did to prosecutors in a trespassing case involving climate change protesters, an Ann Arbor judge ruled Thursday.
Citing Michigan court rules for misdemeanor cases, 15th District Court Judge Karen Valvo found Thursday, Oct. 10 that the court had no authority to demand the university provide additional evidence to Angie Martell, who is representing Ann Arbor school board Trustee Jeffrey Gaynor, as well as several UM employees and alumni facing trespassing charges in connection with a sit-in protest during the global “Climate Strike” demonstration in March.
